These realistic views of the earth are derived from space imagery. A tremendous amount of satellite data was composited together to produce a cloudless view, and then Space Shuttle photography was used to calibrate a computer colorization of this result. This Face of the EarthTM global image master makes it possible for us to supply earth views from virtually any perspective, daytime or nighttime, with or without clouds. The ocean can be shown with natural water colors, or with bathymetry (ocean depth). Animations such as the rotating earth and fly-ins to detail down to 1 km can also be provided.
