The Sacred Grove is a small, old-growth, hardwood forest in western New York state near the village
of Palmyra that is sacred to members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. It was in
the Sacred Grove, in the spring of 1820, that Joseph Smith, Jr., a boy of 14 years, beheld a
heavenly vision of the Father and the Son (often referred to as "The First Vision").
