Victory Park is dedicated to the men and women who defended Russia during the Great Patriotic War (WWII) 1941-45. It took more than 50 years of planning and revision through various regimes and much controversy, to select the final design and complete construction, ending on Victory Day 1993. The three sided obelisk spire on top of the Museum towers nearly 148 meters, matching the number of days of the wr. The surface of the obelisk is covered with a collage of several hundred bronze reliefs associated with famous military events. Flying close to its top is Nike, the goddess of victory.
