Stock photography, photos: Savior Gate Tower Red Square Moscow

Stock photos of The 67.3 meter high Spasskaya (Savior's) Tower, known as the Frolovskaya (St. Frol's) Tower until the 17th century, was built in 1491 under the supervision of Pietro Antonio Solan. The gate has for centuries been the main official entrance to the Kremlin. In the 16th and 17th centuries, the Spassky Gate was used for ceremonial processions made by the Czar and the Patriarch and for meeting foreign ambassadors. In 1624-1625, the octagonal multitiered turret at the top of the tower was built by the Russian master builder Bazhen Ogurtsov and the English clockmaker Christopher Halloway. The current clock, the fourth, was built by the brothers Butenop and installed in 1851-1852. This tower, one of the most beautiful in the Kremlin, strikes the eye with the elegance of its carved white-stone ornamentation.
