Stock photography, photos: D.Fernando II e Gloria: Tall Ship

Stock photos of The Frigate D.Fernando II e Gloria substituted in 1865 for the ship Vasco da Gama as a Naval Artillary School, having made her final mission at sea in 1878. She continued as Naval Artillary School until 1939, after which she functioned as the flagship of the Tejo Naval Forces up until 1940. A reconstruction project, was given to the Navy to execute a complete refurbishing. A great deal of the reconstruction work done on the D.Fernando II e Gloria took place at Estaleiro Riamarine in Aveiro starting in 1992, the masts being fitted at Estaleiros do Alfeite in 1997. In 1998 she was finally ready, in time to be exhibited at the EXPO'98 in Lisbon, commemorating 500 years of the arrival of Vasco da Gama in India.
