Stock photography, photos: Russian Cosmonaut Zokol Space Suit Stock photos of The Russian SOKOL space suit was designed in the early 1970s to protect cosmonauts during launch and landing or unexpected emergencies. Each suit is custom made to a particular Cosmonaut. The suits are made in Russia by the Zvesda company near Moscow. The SOKOL Space suit has an attached pressurized hood with hinged plastic visor securing to a blue anodized aluminum clavicle flange, trussed sleeves with adjustable articulating cables in upper arm and webbed belt lashings.
